Mindful Care
Let's Set Some Goals
Building a solid foundation for well-being can start with defining what wellness looks like for you while your loved one is on hospice. Although your goals may look different during this time, it’s important to establish what allows you to cope by setting goals. Taking time for yourself is important to be a good caregiver. Remember wellness isn’t just about doing things that make you happy, it’s also about rest, activity and connection.
Ways to decrease caregiver stress and maintain positive mental health include:
- Eating a healthy diet
- Getting enough sleep
- Being physically active
- Connecting with others, sharing
- Developing coping skills
- Avoiding alcohol, smoking and drugs
- Managing stress
- Maintaining good physical health
- Recognizing early warning signs of a problem with mental well-being
- Asking for help
