Meet Vicki: Hospice Heart Honoree

Meet Vicki: Vicki Knotts is an RN, Case Manager for the Akron, OH Elara Caring Hospice location.

According to her coworker, Vicki Miller… “For the past nearly six years Vicki has flourished in this role. Her growth and her strength has had a profound impact on her patients, their families, and our facilities alike. She embarks on a journey with her patients on day one and accompanies them until their journey on this earth ends. She then makes herself available to their families should they need her. She listens, she makes eye contact, she cares. Her patients love her, her families trust her, and her facilities depend on her. She operates a hospice team that truly comes full circle. If you want to know the epitome of a hospice nurse, just look at this picture.”

For the past three years, Vicki has received numerous “Hospice Heart” nominations from patients and families she has served in their end-of-life journey. These individuals have made gifts to our Elara Caring Hospice Foundation in honor of the care Vicki has provided to them.

One family states, “Dear Vicki, the best hospice nurse ever! We started with Vicki 5 years ago with a different family member. Then she took extra special care of my Jack (*name changed) this spring. She was so compassionate and loving to him. She became a very special lady to me! If I could give her anything it would be praise forever. My Angel!”
