Love-You-Forever Bears
On any given day, you’ll find John nestled in his favorite armchair, watching back-to-back episodes of Gunsmoke, with “his boys” tucked close under each arm. John’s dementia has gently faded many of his memories, but the feelings that matter most remain deeply rooted – his love for Westerns, his love for his family, and his love for the two comforting teddy bears he affectionately calls “his boys.”
These Love-You-Forever Bears rarely leave his side. They are his companions, his comfort, and his steady source of joy. With the help of his compassionate hospice aide, Gabby, John recently recorded a couple of short voicemail messages, one for his wife and one for his son. These messages are now safely tucked inside each bear, ready to become treasured gifts for the people he holds closest to his heart.
For now, the bears belong to John. They offer him peace, warmth, and a sense of connection during his journey. But when the time is right, they’ll be passed on, carrying not only John’s voice but also the memory of how much comfort and happiness they brought to him.
Because of your generosity, John’s days are filled with companionship and dignity. Thanks to you his voice and love will echo on in the hearts of his family.
