Bereavement Kit Impact
Imagine being a 10-year-old girl, weeks before the holiday season, and you just lost your mother.
Or imagine being a 16-year-old boy who just got a driver’s license and then lost a parent the next day.
Helping children and teens cope with grief is just one way that donations help the hospice community.
Because of donors like you, last year we were able to help 120 children begin to process life without their loved one by providing them with a bereavement kit. These kits contain age appropriate resources that help children and teens cope with the stages of grief.
Bereavement Coordinator Amy B. shares how these kits have impact a child:
“She told me that when she sees a rainbow, she thinks of her mom and thinks it’s her mom telling her “Hello”. She came over and sat by me on the couch, wanting to see what else was in the backpack. She went through each item and made sure she told both her dad and I a story related to her mother for each item…it got her talking and trusting me…all of her stories were positive, and she would relate them back to how she still felt a connection to her mother.”
