Meet Marilyn: Elara Caring Hospice Foundation Volunteer

Meet Marilyn, Elara Caring Hospice Foundation volunteer. Marilyn volunteers her time, expertise, and organizational skills in our Jackson, MI headquarters, assisting with a variety of vital tasks to ensure our Love-You-Forever Bears and various other supportive kits and bereavement items are prepared to ship to patients and families in need.

Marylin states that her reason for volunteering for the Elara Caring Hospice Foundation has to do with her own personal loss… she experienced the loss of her mother, who received Hospice care for a few months at the end of her life. She relates that it was so helpful to have the support of a caring and knowledgeable team sharing about what she and her mom were going through as they navigated this difficult time.

She now enjoys being able to give back to help others receiving hospice care. Whether it is dressing a Love-You-Forever Bear for someone to hug in their last days or sending a bereavement or By Your Side care package for a family to navigate this challenging time as a means to support them, it makes Marilyn feel good to give back.
